Description
The Skipper Road Cone — A Hazard Cone Reinvented
In safety, a cone is rarely just a cone. The Skipper Hazard Cone elevates the traditional traffic cone by integrating smart design, modular compatibility, and enhanced visibility. It’s ideal for sites needing durable, high-performance delineation in demanding conditions — from roadworks and airports to industrial zones and event sites.
Helical Wind-Deflection Design
At the heart of its innovation is a built-in helix shape, engineered to deflect wind off the cone’s body. This reduces tipping and improves stability compared to straight-walled cones.
Two-Piece Construction with Optional Weight Ring
The Skipper cone is built in two parts (cone and base). Its base is designed to accept a weight ring underneath, boosting ballast when needed — without stacking bulky weights on top. (SkipperTM)
- The full cone weighs around 5.4 kg in standard form.
- With the optional weight ring, total mass can increase to about 8.6 kg, useful in very windy or exposed environments.
Wrapped in a glass bead reflective sleeve, the cone’s surface offers greater reflectivity than prismatic tapes, especially under vehicle headlights and low light conditions.
Modular Compatibility & Attachments
The Skipper cone isn’t siloed — it works within the Skipper barrier ecosystem:
- A Skipper unit (retractable belt module) can click into the cone’s top, turning it into a barricade endpoint.
- Dummy receivers, sign holders, safety lights, and mounting brackets (wall or magnetic) can complement the cone in versatile safety setups.
- The Skipper system can also be mounted to nearly any standard road cone, enabling gradual upgrades of existing fleets.
Reliable Stability in Windy Environments
Thanks to the helix design and optional ballast ring, the Skipper Road Cone resists tipping far better than traditional cones — especially under gusty conditions.
High Visibility, Day & Night
With a glass-bead reflective surface, the cone shines distinctly under headlights, increasing safety during night operations or in dim lighting.
Smooth Integration into Barrier Systems
By attaching the Skipper retractable belt unit, the cone becomes part of a controlled barrier line. This allows seamless transitions between cones, posts, walls or magnetic endpoints without separate equipment.
Multi-Industry Uses
- Roadworks & Traffic Control – as strong, visible delineators
- Airports & Transport Hubs – for taxiways, aprons or service road zones
- Industrial & Construction Sites – isolating hazards or access zones
- Event & Venue Management – combining crowd control and traffic flow
- Facility Safety Upgrades – retrofitting existing cones into modular systems
If you need a hazard cone that does more than just “sit there,” the Skipper Road Cone offers a compelling upgrade. It provides better stability, superior reflectivity, and seamless integration into barrier systems — turning a simple cone into a multifunctional safety anchor.
